Sea Salt Bar!

This is something different - not a soap - a sea salt spa bar! It's a cleansing bar with a unique smooth, hard-as-stone texture, and a light creamy lather. Delivers the benefits of a sea salt soak to your skin in bar form. Pale blue in a soft, upscale & elegant fragrance. Really refreshing for those times you need to wash away the sweat and grime.

Note:I have been using one of these bars myself and find that I like it for the oily "T-zone" of my face. I have not found it to be drying to the skin there. Others have reported to me that it they have enjoyed using it for other oily or very dirty areas such as the back or feet. Some others enjoy using it all over, some like to rub it directly on the skin and some like to lather it on a pouf or loofah. Men find it effective to give them a clean feeling that rinses away easily the way they like.

****Update - Only one of these hefty 6oz bars left! ****(Six ounce bar is the half bar size. There are no more 12 ounce bars left)

This rustic bar is scented with Mayan Gold, a rich smooth scent that reminds one somewhat of incense. It would be a great scent for the men but I love it myself. It is a nice unisex fragrance. My hubby says it smells creamy, he's right - it's different, not perfumey, very nice!

Rainy day soap pics

****Update - sold out****
Here's the ginger soap - I left it unscented and uncolored to see what the ginger alone would do. It didn't turn dark brown so I'm happy about that, but it didn't retain the golden color it had at first. There is no discernible ginger scent left. I think I will rebatch it and add some ginger eo or fo.

This is the lavender soap I did the same day, the swirl turned out great. Next time I'll use a bit more colorant to get a better contrast. I used Tony's lavender FO for the first time and it is a bit weaker than BB's, but doesn't have that masculine musky note.

Soaps made on a rainy Sunday

****Update - soaps from these batches all sold out****

Today I finally got to make an experimental batch that had been on my mind for a while. I'd been wanting to try some ginger soap. I haven't been able to pick the brain of anyone who has actually done it, so between a recipe found online and the suggestions of a few Dishers, I decided to do it using fresh ginger puree as my liquid. I wanted to see exactly what the ginger brings to the soap so this time I didn't add any color or fragrance. It is in the mold now and looks a golden color, at this point the soap is still raw so I can't detect whether the ginger scent has carried through at all.
The second batch today was a lavender blend, mostly lavender with a touch of Yuzu. I used the slab mold and added a periwinkle swirl. Jeanna, I don't know if you like lavender scent, but this may be the most purple-ish shade I've used so far, and I thought of you when I mixed it! :)

It's still in the mold too, so after these two batches come out I will add the pics.

I'm itching to do another embedded soap so I will be thinking about that, maybe get one done this week. I want to try the technique of using a bit of rebatch to join the embed pieces together, one of my last embeds shifted during pour so it came out a bit different than I'd planned. (Shhh, no one can tell though, right?);)

Nice swirl, what's it smell like?

cackled the gremlins as they pulled the invisibility shield from the bottle of EO. It was looking too good to pour back into the pot, the last thing I wanted was a dozen bars of pink soap. So here it is, gorgeous to look at but not a scent to be sniffed. :(
